To complete the implementation of the Coca-Cola Quality Management Systems, National Beverage Company in Gaza attains the Palestinian Quality Certificate




 

Ramallah – Al Hayat Economic - The factory of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) in Gaza Strip attained the Palestinian Quality Certificate from the Palestinian Standards Institution, for completing the implementation of the Quality Management Systems of the International Coca-Cola.

 

The Coordinator of the Technical Department and Public Relations at NBC, Alaa Esawi has recently received the certificate from the General Director of the Palestinian Standards Institution (PSI), Eng. Haider Hajji, in the presence of the Officer in Charge of the Quality and Qualification Department, Taghreed Shehadah, and the Manager of the Information and Promotion Department, Ali Shaheen.

 

The General Director of the SPI, Eng. Haider Hajjah stated: “The granting of the quality certificate to NBC came after evaluating and auditing the Company’s quality profile, in addition to examining the products in accredited laboratories according to the examination program.”

 

“The importance of the certificate lies in motivating companies to produce in accordance with the principles of health and safety, optimal use and good manufacturing standards and methods, in addition to their compliance with the Palestinian mandatory technical specifications and instructions,” Hajja added.

 

He pointed out that the PSI procedures are aimed at enhancing quality and enabling the Palestinian product to continue competing in the Arab and international markets.

 

On his part, the General Manager of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy, Mr. Imad al-Hindi, stated that: “this certificate is the conclusion of the Company's tireless efforts in Gaza Strip since the start of production in Gaza in 2016.  The Company has endeavored to continue the production process in accordance with the highest international quality standards through the application of quality and control systems of the International Coca-Cola, in addition to the local specifications issued by the Palestinian Standards Institution.”

 

Mr. al-Hindi confirmed that the Company's teams in NBC’s factory in Gaza have maintained their efforts to match international standards and provide the best products to the citizens. As a result of such continuous efforts, the factory obtained the Palestinian Standards Certificate.

 

In line with the Company’s vision and commitment to invest in Gaza Strip, and in order to foster the economic conditions there, NBC is currently studying the completion of the third phase in the Coca-Cola Plant - Gaza, and with the completion of this stage, the number of direct job opportunities in the factory will go up to 300, as well as 3000 indirect job opportunities.

 

The first phase was launched in Gaza Strip in 2016, when production started with returned glass bottles, and in 2017, the second phase of the factory was completed, as the line for bottling soft drinks in metal cans was operated, where the Company offered about 200 direct job opportunities and about 2,000 indirect job opportunities for Palestinian families in Gaza Strip.

 

It is noteworthy that the Coca-Cola Plant in Gaza has received the Coca-Cola Award for the excellent performance in the years 2018 and 2019 in the Middle East and North Africa, due to the factory's outstanding performance in achieving the production plans despite the challenges facing the industrial sector in Gaza Strip. In addition to other international, regional and local certificates obtained by the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy in the field of food safety and quality, such as Food Safety Management System Certificate FSSC 22000: 2013, Quality Management System Certificate ISO 9001: 2015, Environmental Safety Management System ISO 14001: 2015, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems ISO 95001: 2018, and Palestinian Standards and Specifications Certificate from the Palestinian Standards Institution. Additionally, the Company has previously won the Golden Quality Awards granted by the International Coca-Cola Company for three years in row.
